Food for Health Science Centre performs inter-disciplinary research with focus on design of food concepts for the prevention of diseases.

Vision

The increasing global epidemic of diabetes and obesity is one of the most imminent threats to sustainability and growth in a future society. The menace is distinctly connected to food and life style. Food for Health Science Centre gathers knowledge and infrastructure to face this grand challenge. It gives Lund University a unique opportunity to contribute to a better world.

Aim

The aim of Food for Health Science Centre is to promote the development of Lund University as an international leading milieu for inter-disciplinary research within the area of food-based prevention of life style related diseases.

Mission

  • To constitute an international leading setting for cross-faculty research within the field of food-based prevention of life style related diseases.
  • To give a stimulus to multidisciplinary research on how to solve global challenges within the area of food and health.
  • To develop new research areas in the interface between academic competences and also strengthen the discipline of nutrition and its applications for prevention of food related disease.
  • To operate and develop the VINN Excellence Centre Antidiabetic Food Centre, and to work for new excellence investments in the Centre’s research field.
