Yadong Zhong

Yadong Zhong’s research interest is focused on the nutritional effect of barley products.

Yadong Zhong defended her doctoral thesis “Nutritional effects of barley products – mechanisms of action in the intestinal tract” on 15 June 2015.

Yadong has characterized the functional ingredients (such as dietary fibre) in different barley varieties and the malting products. The ability of barley products to generate the beneficial short-chain fatty acids in the colon, to modulate gut microbiota and to reduce systemic low-grade inflammation, has been investigated. The symbiotic effect of barley malt with different probiotics has been evaluated.
