Research priorities

AFC research activities are based on the following main hypotheses:

Hypothesis 1:
The post-prandial phase is a driver of oxidative stress and low-grade inflammation.

Food concepts targeting the composition of the gut microbiota may improve metabolic risk parameters.

Hypothesis 3:
Anti-diabetic food concepts targeting systemic inflammation induce benefits on cognitive functioning.

Hypothesis 4:
A multifunctional dietary approach targeting inflammation is advantageous in relation to cardio-metabolic risk markers and weight regulation in healthy subjects.
